Now we’re getting somewhere. In this follow-up post to our “fail” video (link here) we finish up the assembly of the bottom end of the motor. Putting together the engine with the clutch assembly off was a real game changer and made the entire process much easier.

The “trick” to the process is the main drive gear and the clutch gear lock together because of the stagger in the gear mesh. So it is not possible to remove the clutch without first removing the main drive gear.

The main drive gear requires a special tool to remove, and I didn’t have one the first time, so I tried to get by with leaving the gears all attached to the shafts.

So follow along as the bottom end gets all buttoned up for good (hopefully).
